Starting your own business is exciting, but I’ll be honest, the financial side of things was definitely one of my biggest worries when I decided to join the More Than Loft Ladders franchise. I knew I needed some extra funding to get things off the ground, so I started looking into Start Up Loans. That’s when I found BizBritain! They made the whole process so much easier than I expected, and before I knew it, I was all set up to start my new business.

Little did I know that only a few months later, I’d be out quoting for jobs when I received a call from someone who needed their loft hatch and ladder fixed. When I arrived at the property, I met Gary’s partner who explained how Gary had fallen through the loft hatch a few months earlier, breaking his elbow and destroying the ladder and hatch. While I was at the property, I did a temporary fix and provided a quote for a full replacement. It wasn’t until we got chatting about business and finance that we realised Gary was the director of BizBritain, the company that helped me secure my Start Up loan just a few months earlier! It was such a surreal moment and we both had a good laugh about how things had come full circle.

One week later, I was back to install the new ladder, hatch and loft boarding, and Gary could finally get back into his loft without fear of another accident!

Since launching my franchise, business has been growing steadily and I’m already thinking about expanding to new territories. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back to BizBritain for support either, as they’ve helped me turn my business dream into a reality.

It really is funny how things work out sometimes, one minute you’re applying for a loan, the next you’re fixing the loft of the person who helped you get started!
